K5 Homework Aid For Parents is built by one parent, for parents. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use the app and this website.
- No account, no name, no email address, no location.
- No ads, no advertising IDs, and no analytics or tracking tools in the app or on this website.
- The homework photo you scan is sent securely to Google's Gemini AI only so it can be checked. We don't sell it or use it for advertising.
- Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
Who we are
K5 Homework Aid For Parents ("the app," "we," "us") is developed by M. Mohd in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Questions about this policy go to k5homeworkaidforparents@gmail.com.
What we don't collect
You don't create an account to use the app. We don't ask for or collect your name, your child's name, an email address, a phone number, your location, or your contacts. The app contains no advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting tools.
Homework photos
When you scan a worksheet, the app sends that one photo over an encrypted connection to our server, which runs on Google Firebase. The server passes the photo to Google's Gemini API, which reads the page and checks the answers. The results come back to your phone.
- Our server doesn't save your photos. It passes each one to Gemini and returns the results.
- Google processes the photo under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service, which describe how long Google may keep it and how it may be used.
- We never sell homework photos or results, or use them for advertising.
Tip: Worksheets often have a child's name or school written at the top. Fold it over or leave it out of the frame before you scan. The app doesn't need it.
Camera and photo library
The app asks for camera access so you can photograph a worksheet, and photo library access so you can choose a photo you already took. Only the photo you choose to scan leaves your device. The app doesn't browse or upload anything else from your library.
Keeping the service secure
To stop misuse, the app uses Firebase App Check, which relies on Apple App Attest or Google Play Integrity to confirm that a scan request is coming from the genuine app. These checks verify the app and device, not who you are. Like any internet connection, our server and Google's services receive your device's IP address when the app connects.
Read-aloud
Read-aloud uses the text-to-speech voice built into your phone or tablet's operating system.
Information stored on your device
The app stores a few things locally on your device so it works properly: your remaining scan count, your subscription status, and your settings. These aren't sent to us. Deleting the app removes them. On Android, the system's backup feature may restore these settings if you reinstall the app.
Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions are bought and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles your payment and billing details, and we never receive them. The app receives a confirmation of your purchase from the store so it can unlock your plan. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies cover the information they collect.
Sharing results
When you share or print a results summary, the app creates the PDF on your device and hands it to your device's share sheet. It goes only where you choose to send it.
Children's privacy
The app is designed for parents. Kid Mode is meant to be used with a parent, on the parent's device. Because the app has no accounts and asks for no personal details, we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child's personal information has reached us, for example in an email, contact us and we'll delete it.
Emails you send us
If you email us for support or feedback, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the app, and we'll delete your messages if you ask.
This website
This website uses no cookies and no analytics. It's hosted by Netlify, whose servers keep standard technical logs, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver and protect the site. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google when you visit.
Your choices
- You can turn off camera or photo access at any time in your device's settings.
- You can cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also note it in the app's release notes.
